Windows 10 Instructions

  1. OS: Windows 10
  2. CPU: i7 6700HQ or more than 4 cores/8 threads CPU (i5-8600, i5-9400, AMD Ryzen 5 1600 or greater)
  3. GPU: Dedicated GPU 940M or greater (GTX 960, RX 5500XT, GTX 1060, etc.)
  4. Stable internet connection of 5Mpbs or greater
  5. Microphone
  6. Headphones are REQUIRED. Please do not use loud speakers. Speakers generate audio feedback into the microphone.
  7. Mouse
  8. Computer manufactured 2017 or later

​1. Click this link to automatically download the conference app. Saving to downloads folder is fine.

2. Extract zip file on your computer. This can be done by right-clicking, and selecting "Extract All..."

5. If Windows Security does not allow you to run the app, click More info

8. To look around, use the mouse. To walk, use the W, A, S, and D keys or Arrow keys. To open and close the menu, press Esc. To exit the app, open the menu using Esc, then click Exit App.

  4. RAM: 8GB-16GB RAM
  5. Stable internet connection of 5Mpbs or greater
  6. Microphone
  7. Headphones are REQUIRED. Please do not use loud speakers. Speakers generate audio feedback into the microphone.
  8. Mouse
  9. Computer be manufactured 2017 or later
  10. VR controllers must be charged or have fresh batteries.

We do not currently support the HP Reverb G2 VR Headset or HP G2 Omnicept Edition VR Headset

4b. If you are using Windows Mixed Reality, also start Windows Mixed Reality for SteamVR in Steam. Make sure you have room boundary set up.

9a. If using Vive, use left controller thumbpad to walk. Use the right controller thumbpad to rotate. Use left controller top menu button to teleport. Use the right top menu button to open and close the menu button. Use the right trigger to press buttons in the menu.

9b. If using Windows Mixed Reality, use left controller joy stick for movement. Use right Joystick for rotation. Use left controller middle button for teleport. Use the right controller middle button for menu. When using menu, use the Right trigger to press buttons.

9c. If using Oculus Rift, use left controller joystick for movement. Use right controller joystick for Rotation. Use left controller Y button for teleportation. Use the right controller B button for opening and closing the menu. When using the menu, use the right controller trigger to press buttons.

9d. If using Valve Index, use left joystick or trackpad for movement. Use right joystick for rotation. Use left B button for teleport. Use right B button for menu. When using menu, use right trigger to interact and select, indicated by a laser pointing from the right controller.

Oculus Quest Instructions

Estimated Setup Time: 20 minutes

System ​Requirements:
  1. Oculus Quest
  2. PC for downloading/uploading
  3. Our provided apk (in provided links)
  4. A USB-C data cable or a USB-A to USB-C cable or micro-USB-A with micro-USB-A to C adapter (INCLUDED CABLE WITH OCULUS QUEST DOES NOT WORK FOR DATA TRANSFER)
  5. Sidequest software downloaded
  6. ​Stable internet connection of 5 Mbps or higher. Weak/unstable internet connections will have audio issues
**IMPORTANT: Oculus Link Beta for Oculus Quest NOT SUPPORTED

Set up developer mode
    1. Turn on your Quest headset and open the Oculus app on the Android or iOS device (your smart phone) that you used to set up your Quest.

2. Enable Developer mode on your Quest:    a. Tap Settings (bottom-right)
    b. Select your connected Quest from the device list and connect to it
    c. Tap More Settings which appears below your Quest in the device list
    d. Tap Developer Mode. If this step hangs up, gets stuck or does not work please follow step 3 below
    e. Tap the switch to enable developer mode
    f. Exit Settings on the app & reboot your Quest using the right-side power button
3. Create an Oculus Organization:    a. On phone or desktop PC, open up a web browser and login to your Oculus account on the following Oculus website : https://dashboard.oculus.com
    b. Create a new organization
    c. Enter your organization name and click submit
    d. Review and accept the terms
    e. Check your oculus app on your phone, and retry the steps for enabling developer mode (Step 2.d)
Allow connection to the PC
  1. Click this link to automatically download the conference app. Saving to downloads folder is fine.​

  1. Connect your Quest to your PC with a USB-C to USB-A cable
  2. Check your headset for a prompt. Click Always allow from this computer and click OK

Upload APK with Sidequest
  1. Download Sidequest app from the following link: https://sidequestvr.com/#/download
  2. Install sidequest to your computer.
  3. Open Sidequest App, and check the oculus quest headset is connected by clicking the folder on top.

    4. Select the “Apps Installed” Icon after the device has connected

    5. Drag and drop the previously downloaded APK we provided into this window or on top of the SideQuest Logo ​

    6. Check tasks on Sidequest by clicking on the horizontal bars with a check mark (circled in red below). Wait until it provides a green colored bar in the center for successful install.

Run conference app on Quest
  1. Put on the Oculus Quest
  2. Go to your library. Select “Unknown Sources”.

    3. Select our conference APK (conference, com.vwa.conference).
    4. Accept microphone input when prompted.
    5. Accept documents and storage for recording/taking pictures when prompted.
    6. If the screen stays black at any point for steps 4 or 5 for longer than 15-20 seconds, double click or triple click the right controller menu          button to go back to the home menu, and restart the app.


Quest Controls
  1. Use the left controller joystick for movement. Use the Y button for teleport.
  2. Use the right controller joystick for rotation. Use the B button for opening/closing the menu. 
  3. When using the menu, use the right controller trigger to press buttons in the menu.

​Using Oculus Quest for Oculus Link Beta
​
We do not currently support use of the Oculus Link as it is currently in Beta.
 

Troubleshooting

The following steps are for the most common issues that may occur while using the app.
Please email studio@virtualworldarcade.com for further technical support if the steps did not help you or if there is a problem not described below.

​
My Audio does not work (others cannot hear me very well)
  1. Check that you can hear other people in game.
  2. Press 'esc' and click on the menu keyboard to confirm you can hear in-game audio from the keyboard.
  3. If you can hear others and game input, please check your Sound settings, and make sure the correct microphone is selected and working.
    1. ​Hit the windows key, and type in "Sound settings" and click it.
    2. Select "Sound Control Panel"
  4. Make sure the intended working microphone is set to default.
  5. Restart the app after setting the correct microphone to be "Default Device".

​My Audio does not work (cannot hear in-game sound)
  1. Check that you can hear other people
  2. Press 'esc' and click on the menu keyboard to confirm you can hear in-game audio from the keyboard
  3.  If you cannot hear in-game inputs of audio, check your sound settings, and go to sound control panel (as seen in the above images), and make sure your audio "Playback" devices are correct.​
    1. ​Hit the windows key, and type in "Sound settings" and click it.
    2. Select "Sound Control Panel".
    3. Select "Playback" and check the devices for correct "Default" devices
  4. Restart the app.
​​My Audio does not work (cannot hear other people)
  1. If you cannot hear anyone and can only hear your in-game inputs, restart the app.
  2. If you have further issues, please contact us at studio@virtualworldarcade.com
​Everyone or very many people are the same avatar 
  1. Look at other people's avatar.
  2. Check if many other people's avatar looks like the below avatar.
  3. If there are many of the below avatar, ask them what is the avatar they chose, and if it's not the green shirt below, then restart the app.

​Everyone has a hard time hearing my voice, or my microphone is too quiet (Windows 10) 
  1. Open Sound Control Panel.​
    1. ​Hit the windows key, and type in "Sound settings" and click it.
    2. Select "Sound Control Panel".
  2. Right-click the currently used microphone, and select "Properties".
  3. Go to "Levels" and turn up the volume to 100.
    1. You may optionally also uncheck "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" and "Enable audio enhancements" in the "Advanced" section.

The app conference.exe cannot be open more than once (Windows 10)

  1. Click the windows key, and type "Windows Security"
  2. Click on "Virus & threat protection".
  3. Click on "Manage settings" under "Virus & threat protection".
  4. Scroll down and click "Add or remove exclusions" under "Exclusions".
  5. Click on the "+ Add an exclusion" to add an exclusion, choose folder and select the folder in which the conference app exists.

If the above steps do not work for allowing the app to be run more than once, try the following steps:
  1. Make sure the previously downloaded zip is still on the PC.
  2. Delete the folder of the current exe.
  3. Extract a new folder from the previously downloaded Win-client zip.

The videos do not work on stage or at the booths
  1. Verify with other people that videos on stage or in booths are playing, even if they are not playing for you.
  2. Exit the app.
  3. Restart the app.
  4. Look at the stage video or booth video to check that it is playing.

As a presenter, I cannot go backwards for slides on stage
  1. Use two finger press if you are on an OSX device.
  2. Press right click to go backwards on Windows PC.

On quest, I cannot click on people's e-mails.
On quest, clicking on e-mails does nothing

     Quest currently does not have a working e-mail system
